Lucky mines: the same game as Mines, paying a little better
Lucky mines by InOut Games is the clearest illustration of how choice works in this format. The grid, the bomb range, the cap and the interface are exactly those of plain Mines from the same studio. One number differs: a stated RTP of 96 against 95. Nothing about the mechanics moves by a single tile.

How the game looks in the studio demo
Captured on play credits, with the field in its opening state.

The interface gathers into a single strip at the bottom of the screen: stake on the left, mine count and launch on the right. The grid takes the middle and the multiplier sits above it. Random-tile and autoplay buttons live next to the field, which is handier than at neighbouring studios: your hand never leaves one place.
The presentation is restrained - a dark field, round markers on the tiles, no theme laid over the mechanic. Anyone after spectacle should look at Hot-mines with its Mexican cactus or Mummy Mines with its mummy: different engine underneath, same role on the page.
Three games, one studio, one decision
InOut Games shipped a line of three during 2023, and choosing inside it is trivial.
| Game | RTP | Grid | Bombs | Cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mines | 95 | 5x5 | 3-24 | 20000 USD |
| Lucky mines | 96 | 5x5 | 3-24 | 20000 USD |
| Hot-mines | 97 | 5x5 | 3-24 | 20000 USD |
Every column to the right of RTP repeats itself, and that is not a simplification of the table: the games genuinely share grid, bomb range and payout cap. Only the second column does any work. Lucky mines occupies the middle of the line, and there is no sensible reason to take it over Hot-mines at 97.
What the line does usefully demonstrate is how studios distribute return across one engine. Hacksaw Gaming uses the same trick with the build number printed into the title - Mines 94% and Mines Supreme 92%. Here it is hidden behind different names and different pictures.
What one point of return buys
One RTP point is one percent of turnover. Across a thousand bets of a hundred each, the gap between 95 and 96 is a thousand in the average result. You will not see it in one evening: ordinary round-to-round variance dwarfs that figure many times over, and which of the two ends up ahead on a short run is decided by chance.
It starts to matter over distance. A point of return does not fluctuate and cannot be won back - it is subtracted from every bet identically. Which is why the version should be picked once, by the number rather than by how an evening felt: the feeling shows variance, the number shows direction.
How does Lucky mines differ from Mines by the same studio
Return and artwork. RTP 96 against 95, with a 5x5 grid on both, 3 to 24 bombs on both and a 20000 USD cap on both. Mechanically it is one game, and the difference only shows across a long run of bets.
What is one RTP point worth in practice
Across a thousand bets of a hundred each, one point is a thousand in the average result. You will not notice it in an evening: it drowns in ordinary variance. Over distance it accumulates in a straight line and eventually stops being invisible.
Is there a demo for Lucky mines
Yes, and it opens straight from the InOut Games showcase with no account, on play credits. That is unusual for the studio: the public demo link for plain Mines returns nothing, so its demo is only reachable inside a casino.
When was it released
September 2023, a month after Hot-mines from the same studio. All three titles in the line appeared during 2023 within weeks of each other and share a single engine.
